This classic chipped beef cheese ball is a creamy, savory appetizer perfect for any party or gathering. Made with cream cheese, chopped chipped beef, green onions, and flavorful seasonings, it’s easy to prepare and can be made ahead of time. Serve with crackers, pretzels, or fresh veggies for a crowd-pleasing dish that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients:

  • 2 (8-ounce) packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 package (2.5 ounces) dried chipped beef, finely chopped (reserve some for coating, optional)
  • 3 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Optional Coating:

  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Reserved chopped chipped beef

Instructions

  1. Soften the Cream Cheese: Remove cream cheese from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 20–30 minutes, or until softened.
  2. Chop the Ingredients: Finely chop the dried chipped beef and green onions. Set aside a small portion of the beef if you plan to use it as a coating.
  3. Mix the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, chopped chipped beef, green onions, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.
  4. Shape the Cheese Ball: Lay a sheet of plastic wrap on the counter. Scoop the mixture onto the center of the wrap and use it to shape the mixture into a ball.
  5. Add the Coating (Optional): Roll the cheese ball in chopped pecans, walnuts, or reserved chipped beef until evenly coated.
  6. Chill: Wrap the cheese ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  7. Serve: Remove the cheese ball from the fridge about 10–15 minutes before serving. Place on a platter and surround with crackers, pretzels, or fresh vegetables.
