Description

Waldorf Salad is a refreshing classic made with crisp apples, juicy grapes, crunchy celery, and toasted walnuts, all tossed in a creamy dressing. Perfect as a side dish, light lunch, or even a party appetizer, this easy recipe combines simplicity and elegance for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Red Delicious, diced)
  • 1 cup red grapes (halved)
  • 1 cup celery (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped and toasted)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter option)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (to prevent browning and add flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lettuce leaves (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Ingredients:
Wash and dice the apples into bite-sized pieces, leaving the skin on for color and texture. Toss them with lemon juice to prevent browning. Slice the celery, halve the grapes, and chop the walnuts.
  2. Combine the Base:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the apples, celery, grapes, and walnuts. Add raisins if using for extra sweetness.
  3. Make the Dressing:
In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt), salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to your taste.
  4. Toss and Mix:
Pour the dressing over the salad mixture and gently toss until all ingredients are evenly coated. Be careful not to mash the grapes or apples.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:
For a classic presentation, serve the Waldorf Salad on a bed of lettuce leaves or in individual bowls. Garnish with additional toasted walnuts or fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier version, swap out the mayonnaise with low-fat Greek yogurt.
  • Add shredded rotisserie chicken to make it a filling meal.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
